Making Memories… Giving Hope

A marathon in a month

Share

11-year-old Gabriella decided to take on a charity challenge, and during April walked a whole marathon, totting up the miles inbetween school and other activities! After lots of research, she decided to raise funds for CHICKS. Here's why:

"I was inspired to take on this challenge because I wanted to help children less fortunate than myself. I chose CHICKS because I enjoy a holiday in the UK with my family every year, and wanted to help other children enjoy a break too. Also, one of my close friends is a young carer and I found out that CHICKS support young carers.

"At first I didn't think I would be able to complete the 26.2 miles in a month, though my family supported me and I persevered although I found it quite tiring, it was fun.

"I've loved raising money to help other children and it made me happy to do something for somebody else."

We were really impressed by Gabriella's amazing fundraising efforts, which raised £251! We'd like to say a huge thank you to Gabriella and her family for their support.

If you'd like to take on a fundraising challenge for CHICKS, why not get in touch with our community team at community@chicks.org.uk or sign up for our group skydive, taking place this September.
