Thanks to generous funding from Ginsters, 14 disadvantaged children enjoyed a magical Christmas week at our Coastal Retreat in Cornwall!
The children arrived on the 23rd December, staying until the 27th, and enjoyed a break jam-packed with festive excitement!
On Christmas Eve, the group visited the Eden Project and had the chance to explore the biomes. They then got to meet Father Christmas!
On Christmas Day, all the children woke up to stockings from Father Christmas. For lunch, they enjoyed a traditional Christmas dinner with all the trimmings and then later wrapped up warm for a festive stroll along the beach, before opening all their presents!
This caused much excitement, especially for one girl who was convinced she wasn't going to get the skateboard she had yearned for - there were tears of joy when she opened it!
The excitement didn't stop after Christmas Day though. On Boxing Day, the group returned to the Eden Project to try out the Hangloose experience!! This included zipwires, a giant cliff swing and jumping onto a giant air bag!
The break really did make an impact, giving the children a chance to relax and make some extra special memories this Christmas. One girl said: "We've come together as a family, making jokes up, laughing and I'm going to miss everyone".
This year, we're hoping to give hundreds more children a special week away, full of excitement and laughter, but to do that, we need your support. Anything you can give really does make a huge difference - thank you.
